Apart from the Siamese twins, the world famous twins; the Thai cat from Thailand has been known throughout the world for its uniquely bloodline as “Siamese cat”. The Siamese cat is quite distinctively unique in its fur color and its independent habit. The color of the fur is distinguished from others, but attractive to the cat lovers. The first category of the Siamese cat first exposed to the world was through the gift of King Rama IV to the British Consulate. That is, in 1884, when a pair of Siamese cat was given by King Rama IV to Mr. Owen Gould, the British Consulate. This breed is called “Wichienmaad”. The fur color of both cats is white with tint of brown, but the darker brownish color appears at nine places of its body: its two ears, mouth, tail, all flaws, and its sexual organ. The color of the eyes of this breed is usually blue and lively glistening. Thereafter, this pair of cat had won the prize in London Short-hair Cat Competition. This has led British cat lovers look for owning and taming Siamese cat. Since then, the favorite of Siamese cat has spread strongly to the world after all.

Thai Cat

The Siamese cat can be as tame and cute as other types of cat in the world, but the difference is its habit in the sense of being extremely independent. The Thai cat is smart, love its owner, flatter its owner like other cats, but love to show its love and flatter its owner only when it wants to do so. The extremely independent habit of the Siamese cat is in its bloodline that it does not like being kept or stay put in its cage, instead it loves wandering around whenever it wants to, as well as eating and drinking whenever it desires. Some said to the cat owner that “For the Siamese cat, it is the cat that owns you, not you who own the cat”.

Thai Cat

The record about the breeds of the Siamese cat during Ayudhaya period indicated that there were about 23 breeds of the Siamese cat existed throughout Thailand. All of them are divided based on the belief into categories of being the good valuable cat by bringing luck to its owner or the mascot; or cat that bring bad luck or devil to its owner, the misfortune cat. Among the 23 breeds, 17 breeds were fallen into the categories of being the mascot; the other 6 breeds were the misfortune cat. At present, however, there are only 6 breeds reported to be existed for the mascot. They are the breeds under Thai names as “Wichienmaad”, “Sri-sawaad”,”Supaluck”, “Koneja”, “Khao-manee”, and “Sam-sawade”. All of them have their own unique characteristics and color. Nonetheless, there is no objection to their charm and tame as “Siamese cat” that are in need for the cat lovers.
